If you have a 2012 or earlier Zipp 188 Rear Hub with Shimano/SRAM splines, you have room for a nine or ten-speed cassette on the cassette body. If you want to move up to eleven speed, you need Zipp's 10- to 11-speed 188 Hub Conversion Kit. The 188 hub debuted in 2009, and is still in use today, though 188-hubbed Zipp wheels have been dished for Shimano/SRAM eleven-speed since 2013. It includes an eleven-speed Shimano/SRAM cassette body, a spacer so the body can work with ten-speed cassettes, an axle, and end caps. Pulling out the old parts is easy; you just need an Allen key. Installing the new parts is just as simple; reverse the steps and tighten with an Allen. The important thing, and what makes this a job for a wheel-building professional, is that once the new parts are assembled on the hub, you need to re-dish the wheel. This means de-tensioning all the spokes and then re-tensioning. It is work best left to a professional wheel-builder. The Zipp 10 to 11-speed 188 Hub Conversion kit comes with all the pieces necessary to adapt your Zipp 188 wheel to Shimano/SRAM eleven-speed cassettes. You need to get the wheel re-dished.
